Celebrating the life of Linda Jules Adams
July 6, 1930 — February 22, 2012
Linda Wylene Jules Adams, 81, sister and sister-in-law of Drs. Idalorraine and Frank B. Wilderson, Jr. and a resident of Minneapolis since the 2005 Hurricane Katrina, was buried in New Orleans on February 28, 2012, after services at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church.
She died on Feb. 22 from a massive benign brain tumor at the Lafon Nursing Facility of the Holy Family Order, of which Frank’s aunt, Sister Miriam Joseph Wilderson, deceased, was the former Mother Superior.
She was predeceased by her husband, civil rights leader William R. Adams, M.D., the former medical director of the historic Flint-Goodridge Hospital in New Orleans; and her siblings, Adrienne Jules Young, Inez Jules Davis and Weldon James Jules. One of six children of Emily and Henry E. Jules, Sr., Linda is survived by her brother, Henry E. Jules, Jr. of Fresno, California; her sister and brother-in-law Drs. Wilderson; and many relatives and friends.
In Minnesota, Linda, a retired registered nurse and a charter member of the Pontchartrain Chapter of the Links, Inc., was a member of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter of the Links, Inc.; the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxilary #435 at Holy Name Catholic Church; the Linwood Golden Seniors Club; and was a Basilica of St. Mary’s supporter.
Linda’s brain surgery last March at the University of Minnesota Neurological Center was followed by an extended stay at the Providence Nursing Care Facility. Pursuant to Linda’s ardent wishes, she was transferred in October to New Orleans’ Lafon Center by the Wildersons, where she died with the full support and prayers of the Holy Family nuns and many members of her home community, following a short stay at the Chateau de Notre Dame Hospice Center.
She will be greatly missed by her numerous relatives, friends and colleagues who continue to pray that her spirit, free of pain, now Rests in PEACE in the Bosom of JESUS.
