Nathaniel Battle Jr., 81, passed away on January 21, 2016, after a long illness in San Diego, California. His final service and burial will be in St Paul, MN.
Elder Nate moved his family out of the cold climate to San Diego, but he never stopped preaching. His church became the streets of San Diego. His passion was “reaching the lost souls at any cost.”
Elder Nate pastored Gospel Temple COGIC, located at 247 W.L. Battle Street, St. Paul, from 1996-98. His nephew, Bishop Jesse Battle, Jr., will officiate his service on Friday, February 12, 2016, 11 am, at Berean COGIC, 441 Rice Street, St. Paul.
He leaves to mourn his passing a daughter, Shannon Battle Rios (Robert); two sons, Charlie (Patrice) and Nicholas Battle; six grandchildren, Jazmyn McKinney, Christopher, Courtlynd, Ezekiel, Zaida and Zion Battle; one great-grandchild, Taylor Tillman; three sisters, Mother Fannie Webb, Pastor Emeritus Thelma Battle-Buckner, and Evangelist Louella Pittman; two brothers, Rev. Burnie (Bessie) and Bishop Robert Battle (Wilma); and a host of nieces and nephews.
