President Obama called for the nation to come together after a hard-fought and often divisive election cycle which saw the election of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States.
While acknowledging ideological differences between his party and President-elect Donald Trump, Obama said he instructed his administration to provide a smooth transition of power to the Trump administration.
“I’ve said before that I think of this job as being a relay runner,” Obama said. ” You take the baton, run your best race, and hopefully by the time you hand it off, you’re a little further ahead… I want to make sure that the hand-off is well-executed because ultimately, we’re all on the same team.”
