“Say it loud, say it clear — immigrants are welcomed here!” was just one of the chants heard at the “Resist From Day One! ” rally and march that took place in south Minneapolis January 20 following the inauguration of Donald Trump.
The protest started at Lake Street and Nicollet Avenue and moved down Nicollet Avenue en route to the Governor Center Plaza in downtown Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) estimated that close to 2,000 people attended. According to the event Facebook page, 26 organizations were invited to attend the protest to show resistance to Trump’s “racist agenda.” No arrests were made today in connection with the protest, according to the MPD.
