In support of financial literacy initiatives, COUNTRY Financial® has partnered with Minnesota Council on Economic Education to present the Money Smart Teen Essay Contest. April is financial literacy month and Money Smart Week will take place across the nation to help consumers better manage their personal finances.
Students in the Twin Cities area (Hennepin and Ramsey counties) in grades 9-12 are asked to answer the following questions in 300 words or less:
- Do you think there is a connection between financial health and physical health?
- Please explain your answer. And what can a city, state or national policymaker do to help promote financially healthier citizens?
The winner will receive a $3,000 scholarship and the two runner-ups will receive $1,000 scholarships, both to be used for future educational expenses and sponsored by COUNTRY Financial.
Complete rules and application information is available on the Money Smart Week website. Essays are due by 5 p.m. on March 17, 2017.
