Celestia Bernice Fraction passed away January 9, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois at age 97. She was a former longtime resident of Minneapolis and retired from the Minneapolis Community College as founder of The Learning Assistance Center. The center is dedicated in her name. She was also a longtime active member of Zion Baptist Church and in the community.
Celestia was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Carl Harrison Fraction. She is survived by her daughter Ann Fraction-Burchett; granddaughters Wendi Swift and Siddiya Swift; step-granddaughter Lisa Thompson; one great granddaughter; four great grandsons; four great-great granddaughters; and four great-great grandsons.
A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Zion Baptist Church, 621 Elwood Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN.
