Are the equipment violation stops in Minneapolis discriminatory?
Over the last 12 months, there have been over 7,000 stops for equipment violations. Of these stops, 55% of the individuals were Black or East African, even though they only make up 18% of the population. Conversely, while Whites make up 60% of the population in Minneapolis, they were 30% of the individuals stopped for equipment violations.
Please join us for a panel discussion with key community leaders about the impacts of over policing including excessive police stops for equipment violations. *Panel members will be announced early January.
