A special event entitled “Diamond and Pearls” celebrated Black Music Month and the late artist Prince. The event honored the hometown legend’s memory by continuing his support of the arts and community giving.
Pete and Kim Rhodes, founders of the Minnesota Black Music Awards, collaborated with Continental Diamond store owners Jimmy and Helain Pesis to recognize the Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project founder Louis Andre Fischer for outstanding contributions to music and community.
The Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project was launched in 2013 with summertime schedules of free jazz concerts and workshops that fosters a fun, creative, safe, educational and artistic environment for youth.
With the help of sponsors and supporters, such as the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and local schools, the project has achieved an amazing impact with positive outcomes for young people. Guests of Comcast’s new program, Black Music America, toured the jewelry collection presented by Bride Magazine’s seven-time “Best Jeweler” in Minnesota, Continental Diamond.
There was live music by saxophonist Walter Chancellor, Jr. and a special presentation by Grammy award winning producer and program founder, Louis Andre Fischer who described the history and work of the Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project.
Continental Diamond presented Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project with a set of pearls to be used in future fund raiser efforts.
