MNsure, the state’s health insurance exchange program, debuted the signup process on October 1. Officials during an October 4 conference call with reporters, including the MSR, estimated that 5,000 accounts were opened during the first week. “We think it’s been going very well,” remarked MNsure Executive Director April Todd-Malmlov. She added that many people did “anonymous shopping” but did not disclose specific numbers. “Minnesota is unique,” said Todd-Malmlov. Continue Reading →

Minnesotans soon can find competitive health insurance plans through MNsure, the state’s new health insurance marketplace, say State officials, who claim the program will help all Minnesotans, especially those from historically disadvantaged communities. “Minnesota today has the lowest average insurance rates in the country” compared to other state exchanges, proclaimed State Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman last week during a Sept. 6 press conference at the State Capitol. MNsure opens Consumer Contact Center

MNsure’s executive director, April Todd-Malmlov, has announced the opening of MNsure’s customer Contact Center, which will provide support for Minnesotans with questions about securing health coverage through MNsure, Minnesota’s new health insurance marketplace. MNsure representatives will answer questions from individuals and small business owners on the Contact Center’s opening day, guiding consumers through their health coverage choices. “With the opening of the MNsure Contact Center, we make it easy for Minnesotans to get help from trained service representatives, to learn more about the choices they have for quality health insurance, and to choose the plan that is right for themselves and their families,” said Todd-Malmlov. “This opening realizes an important milestone for MNsure as we approach our October 1 open enrollment launch date. The Contact Center is a much-anticipated “live person” customer service resource for over one million Minnesotans, and is a collaborative approach connecting MNsure to the Department of Human Services, Minnesota counties, MNsure navigators and agents/brokers, and health insurers. However, he sadly points out that there are “professional misinformation spreaders trying to confuse people” on the law. Ellison held two separate forums on the ACA July 2, first with local small business owners at the Minneapolis Urban League’s Northside headquarters, then with community folk across the street at the NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center. The first was attended by around 20 business people, but none were Black business owners. “We certainly reached out,” said Ellison of this absence. Continue Reading →
