Two winning coaches with much in common

 

 

GIOVAN JENKINS (Minneapolis Washburn) and SCOTT HOWELL (St. Paul Central) are two of the state’s most successful football coaches with plenty in common. Central, Washburn keep winning championships

 

 

St. Paul Central captured its fifth-straight City Conference football title, and Minneapolis Washburn won its 11th consecutive crown last Friday. But that is only part of the story. Both teams are coached by former players who went on to play at the collegiate level and then chose to give back to their alma maters. Without trying, Robinson left unforgettable legacy

 

STACY ROBINSON, who starred at St. Paul Central and went on to play wide receiver for the New York Giants, passed away last week after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 50. Robinson spent six years with the Giants as a wide receiver and earned two Super Bowl rings after an All-America career at North Dakota State. Before that, Stacy was one of the state’s top high school athletes as a junior and senior, excelling in football, basketball and track before graduating in 1980. Continue Reading →
