The 2012 state boys’ basketball tournament held at the Target Center last weekend will certainly be one to remember.
There were two buzzer-beaters in the Class 3A and4A title games. City Conference teams from Minneapolis and St. Paul placed second and third respectively in Class 3A. Minneapolis Washburn and St. Paul Johnson put on quite a show in the Twin City boys’ basketball game two weeks ago. Washburn won in a 90-89 classic after senior forward JERRY PRATT converted his own missed layup as time expired. His putback helped the Millers offset a 30-point performance by Johnson senior guard MARCUS MARSHALL. If the two teams take care of business this week, they could end up seeing each other again in the Class 3A state tournament next week. Continue Reading →
The only bad thing about high school basketball in the metro area is that there are so many games to choose from and I am unable to make them all. This week I saw three games featuring some of the state’s top players in girls’ and boys’ basketball.
