It’s a Spurs vs. Heat rematch in NBA Finals

Thanks to Donald Sterling, the banned-for-life LA Clippers’ owner, these NBA Finals will be the most overshadowed Championship Series ever, even though we have a rematch of last year’s Finals when the Miami Heat beat San Antonio four games to three to repeat as NBA Champions. The Eastern Conference was a fraud this year, and because of it the Heat stand in position to win a third-straight title, barely having broken a sweat to reach their fourth-straight Finals by sweeping Charlotte 4-0, taking down Brooklyn 4-1, and beating Indiana 4-2, having to overcome only a blow in the ear. The Heat join the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers as the only franchises to have reached the NBA Finals four years in a row. Led by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, the Heat have delivered for Miami and are in pursuit of a three-peat. When these playoffs began, 16 teams started on a mission to win the NBA Championship. Continue Reading →

NBA playoffs are coming

It disappoints me greatly to say that the Timberwolves (38-38) have missed the playoffs again. After nine straight years in the NBA lottery, they were a lot better this year but not close to being good enough. The Western Conference again is loaded with deep-talented teams even though the Eastern Conference has delivered the NBA Champion back to back with the Miami Heat the last two years. I believe the NBA Champion in 2014, however, will come out of the rugged Western Conference. They have five teams with 50 wins or more. Continue Reading →

Thunder can’t turn the Heat off!

MIAMI — For all those who pulled against LeBron James because he made a decision that you disagreed with for his future — this one’s for you. I was really kind of surprised at the nearly 3-1 margin of fans on Facebook-Twitter-media and fans of basketball that picked against the Miami Heat vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals. Miami won the decisive game five 121-106 in a rout to capture the first title for the famed Big Three, James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, in South Beach. The Big Three combined to score 60 points in the game-five clincher. Continue Reading →

Heat and Thunder promise stormy NBA Finals

OKLAHOMA CITY — Miami returns to the NBA Finals stage after finishing off the Boston Celtics in a dramatic game seven (101-88)  to capture their second straight Eastern Conference title. The Big Three — yes, Miami is again knocking at the door of an NBA title as they did last year. We all remember them coming up short a year ago, losing four games to two to NBA Champion Dallas. Because they did not finish the deal and win it in the 2011 Finals, this entire NBA season has been about the Miami Heat; they have been ordained, sentenced, and proclaimed as the 2012 Champion or else. Not much has changed: LeBron James (31 points, 12 rebounds), Dwyane Wade (23 points), and Chris Bosh healthy again (19 points and eight rebounds) in game seven. Continue Reading →
