With the state track meet nearly a month away, there are some outstanding performers who hope to participate in the big show in June.
Here are five outstanding track-and-field athletes who could have an impact on the event, to be held next month at Hamline University in St. Paul.
DEVIN CRAWFORD TUFTS (Edina) has been dominant on the football field as a wide receiver, but the senior has also turned in outstanding performances in the 100-meters, 200-meters, and long jump.
JESSICA JANUARY (Richfield) was one the state’s top basketball players last winter, and the sophomore had continued her dominance in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and long jump.
R.J. ALOWONIE (Park) has turned in elite performances in the 100-meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles and triple jump.
LABRISHIA MICHAEL (Bloomington Kennedy) is expected to qualify in the shot put and discus.
MIKE SANDLE (Eden Prairie) has established himself in the triple jump and long jump.
