Twenty-eight-year-old Darren D. Moore of North Minneapolis received a Ph.D. in marriage and family therapy from Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA on May 11, 2012. An open house to celebrate his accomplishment was held June 24 at Heritage Park community room, 1000 Olson Mem. Highway in North Minneapolis.
A delicious meal was served to the many guests who came out to congratulate Darren. A brief program including greetings from Delphine Moore, mother of Darren; a proclamation was read by his grandmother, Lilene “Liz” Moore; a song by Vera Jackson; a “This is Your Life” presentation by his aunt, Dr. Lavonne Moore; comments by the honoree and a closing prayer by Sister Ruby Long.
A wonderful time was had by all. Special thanks to Catherine Wallace and the kitchen crew; the set-up and take-down crew, headed by Al Knox and Ernest Gray; and to Dr. Saundra Crump for securing the facility.
