The MayDay Parade and Festival, Powderhorn and Phillips neighborhoods’ beloved community institution, will celebrate its 40th Anniversary this year.
Public workshops for this year’s parade will begin Saturday, April 5, and run through the first of May. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend these parade-building days, free of charge.
In the Heart of the Beast will kick off this month of public building with MayDay benefit Plant the Seeds! Plant the Seeds is the major fundraising event for the parade and will feature donated performances from the Brass Messengers and Greg Herriges, food from a variety of neighborhood staples, as well as the opportunity for participants to participate in a mini-workshop and preview the MayDay Parade story.
Public workshops begin April 5 and run through May 1. Workshop times are: Saturdays (9-11 am and 1-3 pm); Tuesdays and Thursdays (7-9 pm). All workshops are held at 1500 E. Lake St., Minneapolis, and are free of charge. Plant the Seeds: A Benefit for MayDay will be held Friday, April 5, from 7-9 pm at 1500 E. Lake St. Tickets for the benefit are $60.
