New round of decisions may shake up NBA

Remember the summer of 2010? It will forever be known as the summer of the decision made by LeBron James as a free agent leaving Cleveland and signing with Miami, joining Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in South Beach, turning the Heat into an instant title contender. Pat Riley did OK with four straight trips to the NBA Finals, only the third NBA Franchise to accomplish this historic feat.

The Big Three – James, Wade and Bosh – did big things in Miami, joining the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls repeating as back-to-back NBA Champions. After failing to win a third consecutive title vs. San Antonio, all three stars have surprisingly opted out of their contracts and are free agents again.

Where are James, Wade and Bosh going now? Are they headed to Los Angeles to join Kobe Bryant? Or will they be convinced to play for Phil Jackson with the New York Knicks? Or are they allowing the Heat to retool around them and plan to resign with the Heat?

Carmelo Anthony has opted out of New York. Could he be headed to Miami, joining James, Wade and Bosh for another title run?

All-Star Kevin Love wants out of Minnesota, so another star is gazing the NBA free agency scope and being shopped for the right fit. It will be interesting watching how this round of decisions plays out. Could LeBron actually go back to Cleveland?

Another summer of decisions that could rock the power structure of the NBA. In 2010 things shifted to Miami, and for four years now they have been the team to beat. Stay tuned – much talent and money and how it fits could shift who is considered a title contender next fall.
