The chilly weather was no match for Sister Spokesman. On Saturday, January 9, Sister Spokesman gathered community members, leaders and local entrepreneurs for an afternoon dedicated to inspiring and informing women.
Highlights included a panel discussion and Q&A with Black Lives Matter organizer Asha Long, Dr. Reatha Clark-King, former president of General Mills Foundation and Metro State University, and NAACP Minneapolis President Nekima Levy-Pounds, who shared experiences and advice as women of influence in the community.
The afternoon’s festivities also included the soulful stylings of Chantel SinGs, and Diane Eliane, who wrote the Sister Spokesman theme song and delighted attendees with a live version.
Representatives from Stun and Run Self Defense rounded out the event with live demonstrations of self-defense products and instructions.
