I’m just writing to say how much I enjoyed your interview with Jennifer Jacobs (MSR, “Navigating through Minnesota Nice: Black woman coach finds it difficult to have ‘the racial conversation’ here,” March 10, 2016) and yet found it intriguing that still today, in 2016, a person of color may still have to rely on a designated form of funding (for minorities) in order to achieve a desired position.
This was a phenomena, I believe, that was initiated during the 70s when I was a young adult. And still yet today it seems that in many circles this is the primary means of achieving one’s dream. Something is definitely wrong with this picture and I am concerned.
Thank you so very much for your service to the community.
