Hopkins, one the state’s top programs, completed their runnerup Class 4A finish with a 31-1 record behind the outstanding play and leadership of senior guard Dee-Dee Winston, junior backcourt mate Raena Suggs, fellow junior center Angie Hammond, sophomore guard Dlayla Chakolis, and freshmen guard sensation Paige Bueckers.
Suggs, Bueckers and Hammond were selected to the all-tournament team.
The Royals, state runner-up last year, defeated Minnetonka (76-57) and Eastview (64-59) before losing to Elk River 64-60 in the championship game.
Park Center, making their fourth consecutive state tournament appearance, were the consolation champions in Class 4A with outstanding performances coming from senior center Mikayla Hayes, senior guards Danielle Schaub and Ann Simonet, and junior backcourt mates Sommer Blakemore and Meghan Dubois.
The Pirates, who finished with a 24-5 record, lost to Eastview (75-65) in OT in the opening round of the tournament before winning their next two games against Minnetonka (74-60) and Andover (55-45).
Hayes, who’s headed to the University of Florida next season, was selected to the all-tournament team.
DeLaSalle finished 19-11-1 while winning the consolation bracket in Class 3A competition.
Junior guards Ayanna Gardner and Dacoda Speidel, freshman guard Alexis Cochran-Starr, sophomore center Mary Claire Francois, and junior frontcourt mate Olivia Travis led the charge for the Islanders, who defeated Waseca (51-43) and Grand Rapids (68-66) after losing the Winona (64-59) in the opening round.
Gardner was an all-tournament team selection.
Minnehaha Academy reached the consolation bracket of the Class 2A tournament behind freshman guard Mia Curtis, sophomore guards Avery New and Tatum Rhoades, junior guard Terra Rhoades, and sophomore forward Nevah Galloway.
The Rehawks finished with a 23-4 record.
