African American History Harvest — Southside stories wanted

Rebuilding Together Twin Cities is hosting a History Harvest to record and preserve the rich history of the African American community on Minneapolis’ South Side. African Americans who lived, worked, attended school, church or social clubs on the South Side in the Central, Bryant or Regina neighborhoods are encouraged to bring items to the event and tell your story.

Bring your documents, photographs, artifacts, family heirlooms, or personal objects. Tell a story about what these items say about you, your family or your community. The photographs and interviews will be digitized and transcribed, and collected for a project to be publicly displayed. A digital photograph will be taken of your item and your items will be returned to you.

The History Harvest will be held October 28, 2017, from 10 am to 2 pm at St. Peter’s AME Church, 401 E. 41st St., Minneapolis, MN 55409. The event is free and open to the public.
