Police have named a suspect in connection with the shooting death of community activist Tyrone Williams. An arrest warrant has been issued for 27-year-old Sid Brady Strickland-Green in connection with Williams’ murder. The police have also teamed up with Crime Stoppers of Minnesota to offer a reward of up to $2,500 for any information leading to his arrest.
The announcement was made at a press conference hosted by the Williams family Tuesday afternoon in front of their home in North Minneapolis.
Approximately 30 community members gathered for the announcement, including Tyrone Williams’ sister Raiesha Williams, his mother Rosemary Nevils-Williams, Pastor Brian Herron of Zion Baptist Church, family friend lawyer Nekima Levy-Pounds and husband Marques Armstrong, and others.
“We are asking that anyone who knows any information to come forward,” said Raiesha Williams. “We want to have Tyrone’s life, and death, taken seriously as another crime that happened to somebody unjustly. We ask that if you have any information to come forward. Too often, too many times, things go unsaid and undone because people stay silent. Somebody out there knows something.”
Anyone with information on Strickland-Green’s whereabouts or Tyrone Williams’ death are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or by texting “TIP674” and tip to CRIMES (274637). All tips are anonymous.
