Farmers markets have come a long way in the past decade or so. At one point, you could only find a handful in the Twin Cities metro area. Now, they are peppered all over the city, including the newly reopened outdoor Nicollet Mall location in downtown Minneapolis.
It’s a good thing, too, because these area markets are goldmines for accessing locally grown produce and reducing your carbon footprint. You can score everything from fruits and vegetables at their seasonal peak to farm fresh eggs, meats and goodies like spices, honey, jams, and jellies. Some locations even have artisan vendors with such offerings as jewelry, paintings, pottery, clothing and other crafts.
Farmers markets are not just a weekend thing, either. Many are open during the week and a few are even open daily. Here, we have compiled a list of nearly 40 farmers markets in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and surrounding suburbs to visit this summer.
Read on to see what locations are near you.
