Attendees of Sister Spokesman’s “Celebrating Moms of All Ages” filled the room at LifeSource in Minneapolis with uplifting words, memories, tears and laughter. On Saturday, Dec. 2, 15 phenomenal mothers were honored by loved ones in front of a capacity crowd of well-wishers. The event got off to a rousing start, as surprise well-wisher, former Vikings defensive end Tyrone Carter, stopped by to offer remarks to the mothers in attendance.
The ceremony was bookended by the soulful sounds of Wenso Ashby Jazz & Beyond, accompanied by vocalist J. Michelle Caldwell. The duo closed their set with a soaring rendition of Jill Scott’s “Golden” that prompted KMOJ’s Walter “Q Bear” Banks to chime in with a few notes of his own—much to the delight of the crowd.
Attendees also got in some holiday shopping, visiting local vendors who lined the room with everything from purses, hats and hand accessories, to body creams, beard oils, greeting cards, soul food and more.
