Wesley Gabriel Hayden, age 86, passed away on January 7, 2020. He was preceded in death by wife Rita and son Shawn, sons Wesley Jr. & Timothy; daughters Sheilah and Christina, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wesley worked as a city planner for most of his life. He was a Golden Gloves champion and coached for over 30 years (he coached two Olympic boxing games) and was an active member of his Southside community.
Wesley was a father to all who came in touch with him. He gave to his community and family from far and wide. His contributions and influence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, Jan. 31 at Washburn-McReavy Nokomis Park Chapel, 1838 E. Minnehaha Parkway in Mpls., with visitation one hour prior. A Celebration of Life will take place from 4-7 pm on Jan. 31 at VFW Post, located at 1296, 311 W. 84th St. in Bloomington.
