Few things can uplift the soul like music, and few artists were as good at crafting memorable pop gems as the late, great Prince.
On April 21, the fourth anniversary of the legend’s untimely death, CBS will air “The Recording Academy’s Let’s Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute To Prince,” a special tribute to the genre-bending artist.
The all-star lineup of performers includes H.E.R. John Legend, Beck, Usher, Common, Chris Martin, Gary Clark Jr., Earth, Wind & Fire, Alicia Keys, Miguel, Foo Fighters, Mavis Staples, as well as Prince protégés and collaborators like The Revolution, Morris Day & The Time, and Sheila E.
In his lifetime, Prince won seven Grammy Awards, and garnered 38 nominations; he was presented with the Recording Academy’s President’s Merit Award in 1985. In 2004, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received the Icon Award at the 2013 Billboard Awards. He released nearly 40 studio albums and more than made his mark as one of the most innovative, original and influential artists of all time.
The salute to Prince will be hosted by SNL alum Maya Rudoph and will air 8-10 pm CST. It will also be available to stream on CBS All Access.
