It is widely known that students face many obstacles in their plans for college. The Power of YOU program available at Century College, Minneapolis College, and Saint Paul College can help many students with some of the toughest challenges—help make the dream of attending college a reality.
The program is available to students who graduate from high school in the spring and enroll in college in the same fall. Admission to the program is based on family income, and students must qualify for federal financial aid.
The program is available to students from certain high schools (which includes all Minneapolis and St. Paul public and charter schools). The program supports as many students as possible based on student need and the funds available for the program. The Power of YOU covers the cost of tuition and fees through state and federal grants and private scholarships.
In its 10-plus year history, the Power of YOU has helped many students with their college experience and is there to help many more. In addition to gap-funding tuition support, new participants are connected to the program through an immersive summer bridge day.
During this day, students attend a variety of academic sessions and activities that help support their transition to Century College. Throughout the year, they stay connected to the program through individual and group advising, tailored academic workshops, and student leadership opportunities.
