The girls’ basketball season is upon us. Here are some of players to watch this winter (listed in alphabetical order).
Regan Alexander (St. Louis Park), 6’1” senior forward: Outstanding volleyball player who led the team with 16.6 points last season.
Kaylynn Asberry (St. Paul Como Park), 5’5” junior point guard: The floor leader, who averaged 15.3 points per game last season, has been a dominant force since seventh grade.
Amaya Battle (Hopkins), 5’11” junior guard: Averaged eight points per game on a loaded team last season and is mentioned as one of the state’s top prospects.
Kendall Coley (St. Louis Park), 6’2” senior forward: The University of Nebraska commit averaged 15.5 points per game last season.
Angel Hill (Minneapolis South), 5’8” freshman point guard: The University of Illinois commit averaged 13.7 points per game as an eighth grader.
Jade Hill (Minneapolis South), 5’8” guard: After averaging 27.9 points per game in her 2019-2020 season, the conference MVP signed with the University of St. Thomas.
Kiani Lockett (Minnetonka), 5’9” junior point guard: The fiery floor leader averaged 15 points per game in leading DeLaSalle to the Class 3A state tournament.
Adalia McKenzie (Park Center), 5’10” senior guard: Was one of the most exciting players in the state last season averaging 30.8 points.
Maya Nnaji (Hopkins): 6’4” junior forward: One of the nation’s top players in the Class of 2022 led the Royals with a 19.6 scoring average along with eight rebounds last season.
Ronnie Porter (St. Paul Como Park), 5’2” junior guard: Led the Cougars in scoring at 19.9 points per contest.
Alexis Pratt (Stillwater), 5’3” senior guard: The University of Nebraska-Omaha signee led her team to the state tournament last season averaging a team-leading 18 points per game.
Tamia Ugass (Roseville), 6’3” senior center: The LSU signee, who has been playing at the varsity level since seventh grade, averaged 14.6 points in 2020.
Savannah White (DeLaSalle), 6’0” junior guard: Averaged nine points per game but came up big in the state tournament last season.
Taylor Woodson (Hopkins), 6’0” guard: Asserted herself as a freshman last season, scoring 14.8 points per game.
