Guard Jade Hill (South) and forward Davon Townley Jr. (North) were selected as the Minneapolis City’s Players of the Year for the 2020-21 prep basketball season.
Hill, a 5’9” senior, led the Tigers to their fifth City Conference championship averaging 32 points per game with a season high of 52. She will attend the University of St. Thomas next fall on a basketball scholarship.
Townley, a 6’7” senior, led the Polars to its eighth straight City Conference crown as the team’s second-leading scorer at 15 points per game. He will attend Penn State University on a football scholarship.
South’s Angel Hill joined her sister on the All-Conference team. Representing second-place North was Alexis McNeil and Giana Johnson. Virginia Johnson and Jhanae Green were selected from third-place Southwest and Madalyn Blaylark and Maia Steven from fourth-place Washburn.
Rounding out the 12-player team was Kaya Caprini of Henry, Jaida Walker and Olivia Wren of Roosevelt and Ma’Yell Craig of Edison.
Joining Townley on the All-Conference team were North teammates Willie Wilson, Jacob Butler and CJ Brown. Jabari Langley, Mohammed Mohamud and Johnny Spencer represent second-place Edison. Hakeem Ford and Gabe Senseman-Cassidy were selected from third-place Southwest, while Jerome Williams and Chiang Ring of fourth-place South were also named.
Denzel Walker of Henry, Cass Ramberg of Washburn, and Dennis Holte of Roosevelt round out the 14-member team.
Ricky Hill (South) was selected as girls’ basketball Coach of the Year. Ahmil Jihad (Edison) was selected boys’ Coach of the Year.
