Network for the Development of Children of African Descent (NdCAD) is an African-centered family education and literacy center, a place where families and community members come to learn and practice Nguzo Saba that equip and prepare children for success in school and life. We are celebrating 25 years of service to our community. Building upon decades of proven results, we are poised to grow and expand our reach and impact. We seek to fill 2 full-time positions that are key to our expansion efforts. Ideal candidates must be community-minded and have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and families as well as have extensive experience and relationships working with and within communities of African descent.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR, Full-Time (Exempt) Salary Range: $55,000-65,000 (plus Benefits Package) The Program Director position is designed to provide leadership, direction and accountability for the organization’s holistic and culturally-based, family literacy programs and services, which include afterschool/summer reading interventions, parent engagement programs, resource lending libraries and book distribution programming. Key Responsibilities: Supervise program staff and manage day-to-day operations for NdCAD’s family literacy programs as well as manage relationships with the organization’s strategic partners and meet contractual and grant obligations. The position directs and leads plans to grow and expand the reach of essential programs that equip children and families to become self-determinizing through culture and literacy. Essential Qualifications: Minimum 5-years experience in program direction, staff supervision, grant and program budget management; strong team-building skills that support a positive and collaborative workplace environment; strong writing and oral presentation skills; be a self-directed, problem-solver with strong interpersonal skills; be detail oriented with ability to effectively multi-task and manage competing priorities; have reliable transportation; and be comfortable working both in-person and remotely.

FAMILY OUTREACH & ENROLLMENT SPECIALIST, Full-Time (Exempt) Salary Range: $35,000-40,000 (plus Benefits Package) The Family Outreach & Enrollment Specialist position is an important first point of contact for families engaging in NdCAD’s family literacy programs. Our programs aim to support families as they work to strengthen connections between literacy skill development, cultural identity development and self-efficacy and self-determination. The position is responsible for ensuring families experience a seamless, relationship-focused intake process. Key Responsibilities: Conduct outreach and recruitment activities; manage intake and enrollment procedures; and work closely with program managers, staff and our data specialist to ensure intake and enrollment information is accurate and complete. Essential Qualifications: Experienced in outreach and/or organizing within communities of African descent; familiarity with schools and education systems; be relationship-focused, detail-oriented and able to multi-task; have reliable transportation; and be comfortable working both in-person and remotely.
