February 4 @ 8:00 pm-10:00 pm

Vocalist Bruce A. Henry, returns to Crooners Supper Club, Saturday, February 4, at 8:00 P.M. with a special performance, “The Evolution of African American Music”, to celebrate African American Music History. Tickets available at https://croonersloungemn.com/.
For decades, Bruce A. Henry has presented The Evolution of African American music in notable venues across America and in Europe, Asia, Africa and Cuba. He is an eclectic vocalist and composer, and is one of Minnesota’s most beloved performers in the Twin Cities music scene since his arrival in the mid 70’s. He is also one of the most sought out experts in African American Music History.
As the author of “The Evolution of African American Music” (A Journey Through Improvisation) Curriculum, he explores 400 years of black music history from its African roots including spirituals, blues, jazz, soul, hip hop, and beyond. This show is an extension of that work and is a perfect way to celebrate African American History month. Bruce and his friends will perform an exciting mix of selections. The roots of African American music will be explored through performances of Yoruba chant, a traditional Creole song, and early African American Folk Song. Continuing along the time-line Bruce will perform The House of The Rising Song, Music of Louis Armstrong, Rev. Thomas Dorsey, Fats Waller, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Coltrane and RH Factor.
Joining Bruce for this special performance are Kavyesh Kavirah (Keys), Yonathan Bekure (Bass), Kevin Washington (Drums), and Omar Abdulkarim (Trumpet).
On his upcoming performance Bruce states: “To understand African-American music, it’s history, and the context in which it exists within the African-American community is to gain a profound insight into the black experience. To participate and experience these truly American art forms is to understand the nature of what we African-Americans call soul.”
