Code Switch 2021: National Day of Civic Hacking & Virtual Hackathon Kickoff

September 18 @ 10:00 am-11:30 am

Code Switch is a civic hackathon in which community members work on data and technology projects to create positive change.

Join the virtual kickoff event on September 18. Attendees will hear from civic leaders on the theme of Reimagining 911. After that, participants will join breakout “tracks” based on their skillsets and interests and will be invited to brainstorm project ideas and connect with others who have shared interests.

Throughout the day, you will be supported by mentors with experience in skills like data science, design, and research. By the end of the day, participants will form teams and outline their project goals in DemocracyLab, our online civic hackathon platform.

Techies AND non-techies are welcome — entrepreneurs, artists, educators, developers, business professionals, and concerned residents. Projects can use coding, data, storytelling, and more! Ideas and solutions can be proposed by anybody (yes, anybody). You don’t need a detailed plan, only a desire for change.

This year’s theme is Reimagining 911, from Code for America’s National Day of Civic Hacking.
