DIVAS & DRAG
June 16 @ 7:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 7:30 pm, repeating until June 17, 2023
One event on June 18, 2023 at 4:00 pm

Local Drag and Opera artists will showcase their original and collaborative performances at the Historic Mounds Theatre. This event is the perfect way for Drag fans to witness Opera up close, and Opera fans to experience Drag in all its glory.
DIVAS & DRAG is an unabashed celebration of identity; of all the beautiful, expressive ways we know ourselves. Showcasing the art of Drag and the spectacle of Opera, local Drag artists and Opera artists forge their brilliance for unforgettable mashups celebrating self-expression through the most spectacular art forms ever to grace the stage.
The music of the evening will feature many traditional opera favorites along with some hidden gems. For current opera fans, they will get the chance to see it all performed in a way they never have before and for those that are new to the genre, they’re sure to hear many tunes that they recognize.
Each performance will feature five opera performers, Victoria Vargas, Dom Wooten Embretson, Tracey Engleman, Justin Anthony Spenner, and Jordan Weatherston Pitts, alongside six of the Twin Cities’ most legendary Drag Artists, Damien D’Luxe, Victoria DeVille, Andre 1,000, Rustina Phoenix Nuttz, Dick Von Dyke, Kamaree Williams. Together, they will perform new routines set to live opera performances. The evening will be hosted by Nadine Dubois and accompanied by pianist Jared Miller.
D&D, like all AOT events, is primarily about community, and what brings people together. Beyond the glorious spectacle of the stage, this work aims to be a joyous event that offers a safe space for the Queer community of the Twin Cities.
AOT model always offers “Pay As Able” and “Pay It Forward” ticket options to keep opera financially accessible and inviting for all of our Twin Cities communities.
