Free Skin Cancer Screenings for Melanoma Monday
May 3, 2021 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month and Twin Cities Dermatology Center is providing free skin cancer screenings to residents on Melanoma Monday (May 3, 2021). The COVID-19 pandemic caused skin cancer screenings across the board to drop by more than 86 percent last year. However, the threat of melanoma is ever-present and Twin Cities Dermatology Center continues to raise awareness about skin cancer in general, especially around this important annual day. This year, the practice is one of the only clinics offering free screenings in the local area, and its fully vaccinated staff has taken the necessary steps to bring back the initiative while ensuring patients remain safe while visiting the clinic.
The event is on a first-come, first-service basis. To schedule a screening, patients can call the clinic at (612) 268-5005.
Board-certified dermatologist, dermatopathologist and medical director of Twin Cities Dermatology Center, Dr. Margareth Pierre-Louis is leading this year’s practice-sponsored screening. With a mantra of “Visible Wellness for All”, it’s her mission to put evidence-based, expert dermatology within everyone’s reach. Her staff will educate patients about their skin and examine any lesions of concern. After the evaluation, the staff will provide recommendations based on their findings.
Patients of Twin Cities Dermatology Center will also receive access to Miiskin, an AI/AR-enabled telehealth solution offered free to patients by the practice to allow them to continue monitoring their skin health in between doctor visits. Using the smartphone app, patients capture high-quality photos of their skin to monitor for changes from home and send concerning updates to their dermatologist.
