LAAC Presents Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Nonet and Other Works

Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was a leading British composer at the turn of the 20th Century. In 1898 Sir Edward Elgar, then England’s leading living composer, described Coleridge-Taylor as “far and away the cleverest fellow amongst the young men.” Also on the program: Coleridge Taylor’s “Five Negro Melodies” for piano trio and Suite for Violin and Piano, Op. 3, and William Grant Still’s “Vignettes for Oboe, Bassoon, and Piano.”

Performers include Rui Du, violin, Hyobi Sim, viola, Laura Sewell, cello, Rolf Erdahl, double bass, Carrie Vecchione, oboe, Jennifer Gerth, clarinet, Garrett McQueen, Bassoon, Ellen Dinwiddie Smith, horn, Pınar Basgöze and Hanna HyunJung Kim, piano.
