Melanin IN Motion – Beginning Bird Watching for BIPOC: Binoculars & Beyond

June 5, 2021 @ 9:00 am 12:00 pm

Join the family at Melanin In Motion, MN Ornithological Union and African American photographer, outdoor enthusiast, and BIRD WATCHER, Dudley Edmondson, as we learn the basics of how to enjoy bird watching in the city.

This is the first of four opportunities to explore our beautiful urban parks that are natural migration routes and provide amazing bird watching five to 30 minutes from downtown.

You will be hosted by African American author, enthusiast, and Minnesotan, Dudley Edmondson. He will guide our hike through Theodore Wirth and we will walk through Birding for Beginners including the basics of binoculars, The Field Guide, Bird Feeders, Spotting scope, cameras, and other skills to make it fun and potentially a lifelong adventure.

Binoculars will be available for use and you will receive a Field Guide to keep. The day will finish with lunch and a “Conversation with Dudley Edmondson” led by Melanin in Motion Leaders Anthony and Lynnea. Plan on arriving at 8:30 am for 9:00 am start and lunch and “Conversation” at 11:30 am.
