Mpls/SP International Film Festival screening of “Boycott”
May 18 @ 6:30 pm-8:30 pm$15
The film “Boycott” discusses anti-boycott laws which have sprung up in many states around the country, to penalize people who want to boycott Israel because of its human rights violations against Palestinians. The laws prevent people who refuse to sign a certification that they do not boycott Israel, from contracting with the state. Unfortunately, Minnesota is one of those states.
The laws are unconstitutional because they prevent people, from exercising their First Amendment rights to free speech. In every case where the law has been challenged in a lawsuit, the challenger has won.
The film “Boycott” features many of the plaintiffs of these lawsuits. Following the May 18 screening, the director of the film, Julia Bacha, will be conducting a question/answer session.
