MSR Forefront: Black Music Month Celebration

The Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder (MSR) is helping to kick off Black Music Month in print and digitally with its roundtable series “Forefront.” Throughout the month of June, the show will feature roundtable discussions with media veterans, tastemakers, musicians, and artists that highlight the richness of Black music.

The first show in the series features veteran journalist Robyne Robinson, an MN Broadcasting Hall of Fame honoree, art entrepreneur, and moderator; Marquis Taylor, an educator, podcast host, content creator, and arts and culture journalist; and legendary KMOJ radio personality Walter “Q Bear” Banks, whose history with the Twin Cities music scene spans decades.

MSR’s Forefront, and its pop-up offshoot MSR Bulletin, are ongoing digital roundtable discussions that center voices from the community to discuss the state of Black Minnesota amid ongoing calls for systemic racial justice.
