MSR Forefront: Justice for George Floyd
March 18, 2021 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
The Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder (MSR) will host its next roundtable discussion, “MSR Forefront: Justice For George Floyd,” on Thursday, March 18 at 6 pm CST. The conversation will focus on the latest developments surrounding the death of Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.
The MSR has called on city activists, media, and thought-leaders to explore how Floyd’s death continues to impact the national conversation for equity, the role media coverage plays in informing communities, and what justice should look like.
“We hope during this time of unrest and pandemic, that we continue to inspire, inform, and engage our community surrounding issues that matter,” said MSR Publisher/CEO Tracey Williams-Dillard. “And that’s the purpose of this important discussion.”
Featured speakers include:
Nekima Levy Armstrong — lawyer/activist/founder, Racial Justice Network;
Georgia Fort — journalist/founder of BLCK Press;
D.A. Bullock — filmmaker, story activist
Mary Moriarty — former Chief Hennepin County Public Defender.
The roundtable discussion will focus on the panelists’ work, recommendations, and calls to action to end police violence, along with next steps for the community. Stephenetta Harmon, former MSR editor-in-chief and founder Sadiaa, will moderate the discussion.
The virtual conversation will stream live Thursday, March 18, 6 pm CST on MSR’s Facebook page, YouTube channel, and www.spokesman-recorder.com.
