This year, as Twin Cities commemorates what would have been Prince’s 65th birthday, we are honored to have the genius behind his signature hairstyles! The extraordinary Kim Berry will grace our stage and share her insights on the Evolution of Black Hollywood.
In addition, acclaimed filmmakers, production staff, casting agencies and directors for networks such as OWN and BET, will come to the cities to join us.
We’re giving the brothers a space to breathe! This year we’ve added an All-Male Panel discussion, “From the Heart of Black Men”, to allow them a space to share freely. We’re aiming to add diverse representation and inclusion of different perspectives on the topic of the mental health epidemic, plaguing Black men. This all male panel will consists of men from all walks of life, including former NFL player, Stevie Baggs Jr., Silver Fox Squad’s Social Media influencer-Rob Malloy, local businessmen, Jamil Ford, Teto Wilson, Tyrone Minor, Dre Mills, Sean James and more.
A mental health discussion for Black men is crucial in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd, as it addresses the unique and significant challenges they may face. It is no secret that the murder of George Floyd and subsequent events, including protests against racial injustice and police violence, can have a profound emotional impact on Black men. In addition to police brutality, Black men face many biases and challenges that could impact their mental health.
Engaging in mental health discussions provides a space to acknowledge and process this trauma, supporting their healing and well-being.
