Sister Spokesman Presents “Love Thyself”

This celebration of Black sisterhood features Dr. Joi Lewis, Brandon Jones and Trenella Ricks, who will lead a discussion about self-care and self-love. The day also includes a vendor marketplace and the official launch of a new “Get Fit” health challenge.

States of Incarceration Conversations: Healing Beyond the Wall

What does it mean to re-enter society after you’re released from the walls of a prison? Join local pastor and community organizer, Danny Givens Jr. as he shares his story of incarceration and the journey that led him to help other formerly incarcerated people heal.

States of Incarceration Conversations: Reflective Circle

Join activists and people who have experience incarceration for a reflective circle led by People of Color Restorative Practices Collective. The circle will be a safe space to engage in dialogue with others regarding thoughts and emotions after viewing the States of Incarceration exhibit. The event is intended for age 18 and up.

Soul Sing

VocalEssence partners with The Avant Garde to bring out the soul in all of us. Led by VocalEssence Associate Conductor Phillip Shoultz, this event will feature performances by local artists such as Ashley DuBose, Ginger Commodore and Niles, along with an audience sing-along.

Black History Month: Black Border Warriors Screening and Q&A

In conjunction with Black History Month, Rondo Community Library will host a free screening of Black Border Warriors: The Seminole Negro Indian Scouts, which follows the unique plight of Black Seminoles from slavery to fighting against the U.S.in the Seminole Wars.

All day throughout the Twin Cities NAAPID is a national call to action for parents,particularly of African American descent, to come to their child’s school to foster an open dialogue among teachers, parents, and students.

African American Family Involvement Day Roller Skating Party
