Photo of the Week | Here come the judges!

Hundreds of African American judges from all corners of the U.S. have descended on the Twin Cities to attend the Judicial Council of the National Bar Association’s 98th Annual Convention.

They are some of the most powerful people in the land and have already made their presence felt. Over 80 robed justices attended Sunday Service at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in South Minneapolis and made a sizeable contribution to the church’s HBCU College Fund.

They then proceeded to the Clarence W. Wigington Pavilion in St. Paul. Wigington was the nation’s first African American municipal architect and designed the pavilion, which was built in 1941. This historical fact was brought up by Judge Maria Mitchell during the judges’ brunch at the pavilion. They were also entertained by the Walker West Music Academy teens who played selections on the violin.
