The much-talked-about northern lights display expected for last weekend didn’t disappoint if you saw them. A powerful aurora lit up the sky over the weekend of May 10-11 and was visible in all 50 states, as well as in Cuba and the Bahamas. The northern lights occurred during a severe solar storm, the likes of which hasn’t happened since 2005, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
