Timberwolves block party planned for Game 2 of Western Conference Finals

Photo by Travis Lee The Timberwolves installed a giant mural over the parking lot next to Gluek’s Bar in downtown Minneapolis for a takeover party ahead of Friday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks.

The city is bustling with NBA playoff excitement as the Timberwolves kick off the first game of the Western Conference Finals. Ahead of Game 1, Gov. Tim Walz proclaimed Wednesday, May 22, “Wolves Back Day” in Minnesota.

“At 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, all eyes will be North as the Timberwolves bring conference championship basketball back to Minnesota again,” reads the proclamation issued by Gov. Walz. “Sports have the power to bring people together, and Minnesota fans are excited to cheer on our beloved Timberwolves.”

The play-off fun will continue on Friday, May 24, as the Timberwolves host a “Wolves Back” block party before and during the game next to Gluek’s Bar and Restaurant, located on the corner of 1st Ave. and 6th St., across from Target Center. The doors open at 4 p.m.

The event will feature:
• A live Game 2 broadcast on a large screen 
• Pregame entertainment from Nur-D & DJ Cav
• Chick-fil-A Food Truck
• Michelob ULTRA Mobile Bar
• Timberwolves Team Store, A Fanatics Experience, Truck
