Paisley Park celebrates 40th anniversary of ‘Purple Rain’ with tours and exclusive events

The annual gathering that brings Prince fans together from around the world returns to Paisley Park and the greater Minneapolis area next week as programming for Celebration 2024 is slated to take place from Thursday, June 20, through Monday, June 24.

After being positioned around Prince’s birthday (June 7) in recent years, this year’s festivities were pushed back a couple of weeks to coincide with the 40th Anniversary of Prince and the Revolution’s landmark album “Purple Rain.” Released on June 25, 1984, it has sold 13 million units in the United States and nearly 26 million worldwide to date.

Some of the more traditional Celebration offerings will include a tour of Paisley Park, never-before-seen concert footage, a series of panel discussions featuring Prince associates, nightly dance parties, the Sunday gospel brunch, and exclusive listening sessions from Paisley Park’s legendary vault.

That said, this year’s schedule of activities also includes an All-Day Block Party in downtown Minneapolis, a cruise on Lake Minnetonka (for VIP ticket holders), and several events at the nearby State Theatre.

State Theatre programming includes a high-definition screening of Prince’s first motion picture, Purple Rain; a presentation regarding the “Purple Rain” musical, which is set to receive its pre-Broadway premiere in Minneapolis next spring; and live performances by Morris Day, the New Power Generation, and other special guests.

On Friday night, June 21, Celebration 2024 will visit the hallowed ground at First Avenue, where ticket holders will once again have the chance to witness The Revolution live in concert during the first of two nights at the venue that they helped to make the world-famous some 40 years ago.

VIP and General Admission tickets are still available, as our single-day passes to Celebration 2024 and individual tickets to the weekend concerts at both First Avenue and the State Theatre.
