The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team (4-1), who trailed by as many as 12
points, rallied in the second half behind a game-high 26 points from junior guard Destiny Pitts to
defeat Montana State University (3-2) 71-60 at Williams Arena last Saturday afternoon.
Freshman guard Jasmine Powell gave the Gophers the lead for good with a three-point play late in the fourth period. She finished with 14 points, and senior center Taiye Bello added 11
points and 14 rebounds and senior guard Jasmine Brunson contributed six points.
Senior guard Oliana Squires led Montana State with 14 points — all in the first half. Dorian
White scored 12 while Fallyn Freije and Madeline Smith each had 11.
