Informational Programs Will Introduce Under-Represented Groups to Fast-Growing Field
JE Dunn Construction will host Construction Industry Workforce Day events at Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis on August 3, and the Minneapolis Urban League on August 4. Attendees interested in joining the construction industry will have the opportunity to speak with superintendents and representatives from the skilled trades, as well as register with local industry partners such as the Urban League, Minnesota Building Trades, and Apprentice Coordinators of Minnesota.
Founded in 1924, JE Dunn is a family- and employee-owned company with 23 offices across the United States. JE Dunn is a leading provider of construction services; we are proud of our reputation for creatively driving value both during design and construction.
Workers are in high demand in construction, with a 12% increase predicted by the year 2026 and an estimated 180,000 new jobs over the coming decade to meet the industry’s needs. The Construction Industry Workforce Day events are intended to introduce these opportunities to people from backgrounds that are currently under-represented in the field, including women, minorities, and veterans.
Kisha Bausby, Senior Diversity/Equity/Inclusion Manager at JE Dunn, said that “Construction Workforce Industry Day was developed to help bridge the gap with people of color and women as it relates to getting involved in the skilled trades. JE Dunn wants to help make the construction industry as inclusive as possible. The workforce is a great place to start as there are many great career opportunities available that folks do not know about, and therefore cannot take advantage of them. We are moving forward by educating our communities and knocking down barriers.”
The events will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Midtown Global Market, 920 E Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407, and from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the Minneapolis Urban League, 2100 Plymouth Ave North, Minneapolis, MN 55411.
