Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration
MLK Community Conference
When: January 16 ยท 9 a.m. โ 2:30 p.m.
What: As part of Minnesota’s โOne Dream. One Minnesotaโ MLK celebration, this second annual conference is hosted in collaboration with Metropolitan State University. The event features inspiring speakers, interactive workshops, a keynote address, and a panel discussion. Enjoy networking opportunities, resource booths, and lunch (provided). Admission is free, but space is limited.

Sweet Potato Comfort Pie 10th Annual MLK Holiday of Service
When: January 19 ยท 1:30-4:30 p.m.
What: Celebrate MLKโs legacy through service and community at Sweet Potato Pieโs 10th annual event. The afternoon kicks off with an awards reception, including the Character Values Photo Exhibit, the Upholding Our Beloved Community Awards, and performances by Mari Harris. Following the reception, enjoy live music from Jerome Richardson, Jamela Pettiford, and others. Food and refreshments will be provided.

44th Annual U of M Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute Concert: Light
When: January 19 ยท 3 p.m.
What: This tribute concert, under the theme โtransforming light to darkness,โ features G. Phillip Shoultz III, VocalEssence Singers of This Age, and other performers celebrating Dr. Kingโs life and work.

What: Kick off the celebration with a community conversation at St. Cloud State University. This event includes the announcement of the 2025 MLK Celebration Humanitarian Award and contest winners, followed by a keynote address by Dr. Evelyn Hill. This event is free to attend.

35th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast
When: January 20 ยท 8 โ 9:30 a.m.
What: This annual breakfast honors Dr. Kingโs life while raising funds for local students. Keynote speaker Michele Norris, senior contributing editor for MSNBC and former NPR host, will address race and identity in America. The event will also feature performances from Sounds of Blackness, the Threads Dance Project, and VocalEssence Singers of This Age.

39th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration
When: January 20 ยท 10 a.m.
What: Join us at this major statewide event with the theme โOne Dream. One Minnesota. Bridging Legacy with Action.โ The program includes performances, speeches from community leaders, and a fireside chat with Dr. Josie R. Johnson and Dr. Reatha Clark King. Hosted by Dr. Yohuru Williams.
