Betty Jean Stanifer, 83, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, in her Minneapolis home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Cairo, Illinois, on March 12, 1942, to Zula Mae Newsom and Alton Blake Newsom, Betty was a vibrant and dedicated individual.

She is survived by her significant other, Rufus Brown; her daughter, Cecelia Viel; her son, Bobby Stanifer; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters, two sons, and two granddaughters.

Betty was known for her boundless energy and her unwavering support for those around her. She was a cherished member of Minnehaha Temple 129 for over fifty years. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 11:00 am on June 16, 2025, at Faith Deliverance Holiness Church, 1119 Morgan Avenue North, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to StartAnew, a nonprofit organization.
