Hayat Beauty Salon Wins Top Hair & Nails Honor at Sister Spokesman Awards
Hayat Beauty Salon was named first-place winner in the Hair & Nails category at the inaugural Sister Spokesman Black Business Awards. The recognition honors owner Hayat Mohamed’s dedication to beauty, entrepreneurship, and community impact.
Sister Spokesman and the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder continued their celebration of Black excellence in November with the first Annual Black Business Awards, recognizing Black-owned businesses that demonstrate creativity, resilience, and community impact.
In the Hair & Nails category, Hayat Beauty Salon earned first place. The award was presented by Tracey Williams-Dillard and honored the salon’s role in beauty, self-expression, and entrepreneurship within the community.

Owner Hayat Mohamed currently operates the salon independently, building her business through skill, consistency, and care for her clients. The recognition highlighted both her dedication and her vision for growth, including plans to expand her shop and bring in additional stylists. The award also underscored the importance of visibility and support for solo entrepreneurs working to scale their businesses.
The Sister Spokesman Black Business Awards were established to uplift Black-owned businesses across Minnesota and to affirm the essential role they play in strengthening community, culture, and economic sustainability.
