Peacock’s four-part sports docuseries Field Generals: History of the Black Quarterback is now streaming, offering a comprehensive look at the legacy, challenges, and impact of Black quarterbacks in professional football.
Executive produced by Maria Taylor, the series premiered Feb. 5 and continues rolling out weekly on Peacock. The project traces the evolution of Black quarterbacks from the era of the AFL-NFL merger through the modern game, examining how race, politics, and culture shaped both opportunity and resistance within the sport.
Centering the Full History
Field Generals moves beyond highlight reels, placing the journeys of Black quarterbacks within broader historical and social context. The series documents systemic barriers many faced and how they redefined one of the most scrutinized leadership positions in sports.

The docuseries is produced by Broadway Video, West Cedar Lane Productions, and Magic Lemonade Productions in association with NFL Films.
Maria Taylor serves as executive producer alongside Michael Yarvitz, Bill Wolff, Andrew Singer, and Eddie Michaels. Rikki Hughes directs the series and also serves as executive producer. Executive producers for NFL Films include Jessica Boddy, Keith Cossrow, Ken Rodgers, and Ross Ketover.
